"Regional damage and loss analysis with GIS post-processing and visualization" using R2D with Dr. Stevan Gavrilovic
"Live Expert Tips" with the NHERI SimCenter is a virtual event that touches on diverse aspects of simulation and modeling in Natural Hazards Engineering. In each session, a technical example will demonstrate features of SimCenter Tools relevant to research in natural hazards and the built environment. After the example, time is allocated for questions, answers, and discussion on the presented topic.

This session will introduce new Geographic Information System (GIS) functionality incorporated into R2D and how it can be leveraged in a regional analysis workflow. The two main objectives in this session are: 1) discuss how to setup and run a large-scale regional damage and loss analysis on the DesignSafe supercomputer, and 2) provide an overview of the various post-processing methods available in R2D to visualize the damage and loss results across a region.

About the presenter: Stevan Gavrilovic is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the NHERI SimCenter. He received his Ph.D. and MASc. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia and his BEng. In Civil Engineering from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. His research interests include software development, nonlinear finite element analysis and structural damage modelling, and building lifecycle and sustainability assessment.
