"Global sensitivity analysis on a structural system" using quoFEM with Dr. Sang-ri Yi
"Live Expert Tips" with the NHERI SimCenter is a virtual event that touches on diverse aspects of simulation and modeling in Natural Hazards Engineering. In each session, a technical example will demonstrate features of SimCenter Tools relevant to research in natural hazards and the built environment. After the example, time is allocated for questions, answers, and discussion on the presented topic.

This session will introduce the users to variance-based global sensitivity analysis. Unlike local sensitivity analysis, where the variability of output is explored around a specific reference parameter value, global sensitivity analysis (GSA) aims to evaluate the overall importance of each parameter in an engineering system by taking the full input space into account. Identification of the important parameters as well as the screening of trivial parameters is a fundamental task to any engineering analysis. In this session, we will introduce how to run GSA using quoFEM, what options are available in quoFEM, and what insight we can gain from the results.

About the presenter: Sang-ri Yi is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the NHERI SimCenter. She received her Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Seoul National University. Her research interests include probability-based sensitivity analysis, surrogate modeling, structural reliability analysis and random vibration analysis.
